Cardiff City VS Sunderland A.F.C Livescore | Match Preview | Match Statistics

Aron Gunnarsson, Lee Peltier and Matthew Connolly are out while Danny Ward, Lee Camp and Kadeem Harris are doubts for Cardiff ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash in the Welsh capital. However, the Bluebirds have extended Liam Feeney’s stay from Blackburn until the end of the season.
Sunderland have a number of injury casualties with the likes of Darron Gibson, Jonathan Williams, Lee Cattermole, Lynden Gooch, Duncan Watmore and Lamine Kone all sidelined. Jack Rodwell, Didier Ndong and Adam Matthews could also miss out. Meanwhile, Chelsea have loaned Jake Clarke-Salter to the club for the rest of the campaign.
Suspended: None
Doubtful: Danny Ward (knee), Lee Camp (groin), Kadeem Harris (ankle)
Injured/unavailable: Aron Gunnarsson (ankle), Lee Peltier (knock), Matthew Connolly (muscle)
Suspended: None
Doubtful: Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Didier Ndong (ankle), Adam Matthews (calf)
Injured/unavailable: Darron Gibson (groin), Jonathan Williams (shoulder), Lee Cattermole (thigh), Lynden Gooch (hamstring); Duncan Watmore, Lamine Kone (both knee)
Cardiff have hit a poor patch of form, losing four in a row in the Championship, including a 2-1 defeat at QPR on New Year’s Day. Prior to their four-match losing streak, the Bluebirds had only lost three league fixtures all season. They also only managed a 0-0 home draw with League Two Mansfield in the cup on Saturday. Despite their woeful form, City are still third in the table.
Sunderland have improved under Chris Coleman, but they remain rooted to the foot of the Championship table after 26 games. The Black Cats have mustered up just four league wins all season, the least amount in the division. On a more positive note, Sunderland have only been beaten twice in their past six Championship encounters. However, they suffered one of those at home to Barnsley last time out while they were also defeated by Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last weekend.
Cardiff will be desperate to get back on track after four successive league defeats, and they should have enough quality to see off the Championship’s bottom side at home on Saturday. Put your money on a Cardiff win.
Cardiff have scored the opening goal in six of their eight home league wins this term. I’m backing them to open the scoring on Saturday.
Cardiff have won just two of their last seven meetings with Sunderland.
Prediction: Cardiff City  to win
