Nigel Adkins’ Hull City have several players on the injury list as the likes of Abel Hernandez, Ryan Mason, Moses Odubajo and James Weir are out while Will Keane, Kamil Grosicki, Stephen Kingsley and Ondrej Mazuch are all doubts.
Reading also have their injury concerns with Callum Harriott, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Liam Moore, Joseph Mendes, Sam Smith and Stephen Quinn doubtful ahead of this one. Meanwhile, Jordan Obita is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.
Hull City

Doubtful: Will Keane (cruciate ligament), Kamil Grosicki (ankle), Stephen Kingsley (groin), Ondrej Mazuch (hamstring)
Injured/unavailable: Abel Hernandez (Achilles tendon), Ryan Mason (head); Moses Odubajo, James Weir (both knee)

Doubtful: Callum Harriott (hamstring), Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (ill), Liam Moore (knock); Joseph Mendes, Sam Smith, Stephen Quinn (all knee)
Injured/unavailable: Jordan Obita (cruciate ligament)
Hull City are sitting dangerously close to the edge as they are level on points with 22nd placed Burton Albion after losing 1-0 to Bolton on New Year’s Day. It has been an atrocious year for the Tigers, who have picked up just five league wins all season. Along the way, Hull have been beaten a whopping 12 times. City are in desperate need of a victory having won just one of their last 13 league fixtures. They did however register a 1-0 at Blackburn in the FA Cup last weekend.
Jaap Stam’s Reading are also enduring a testing season, despite finishing third last term. The Royals have struggled for consistency so far, winning only seven of 26 Championship matches. Since beating Sunderland in early December, Reading have failed to win any of their last seven in all competitions, losing four of those in the process. They were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham in their last league outing and only managed to hold League Two outfit Stevenage to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup last weekend.
This really is the battle of the two out-of-form teams in the second tier. However, I believe home advantage could be key here, so I’m putting my money on Hull City to seal a massive three points this weekend.
On the rare occasions that Hull City have won this season, they more often than not have opened the scoring. The Tigers have netted first in five of their six league and cup victories. Back them to score the opener on Saturday.
Reading’s last win over Hull City came in a Championship fixture over 12 years ago.
Prediction: Hull City to win
