MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Monterrey lost their first game of the season when they were beaten 2-1 away to Toluca on Sunday. As a result they have dropped into third spot and are now trailing leaders Pumas UNAM by three points. Antonio Mohamed’s side have collected 11 points from six games and boast the second best attack in Liga MX.
Cruz Azul were beaten 2-0 at home to Necaxa on Saturday in their second consecutive league defeat of the season. Pedro Caixinha’s side had started the campaign well, remaining unbeaten in their first four matches. However, following their recent slump, they have now only six points from as many games this season and will need to dramatically improve their form if they are to make the knockout stages of the competition.
Unbeaten at home this year, Monterrey will feel confident against a side which has only secured a single victory this season. A home victory looks the most likely outcome.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – MONTERREY

Monterrey have opened the scoring in 11 of their last 13 home games in the league. The home side will be keen to exploit Cruz Azul’s defensive weaknesses early as the visitors have conceded four in their last two league games.

HEAD TO HEAD
Cruz Azul have won once and tied three times against Monterrey in recent years. Monterrey’s last victory dates back to August 2014.
