The Portland Timbers list Roy Miller and David Guzman as being injured. Minnesota Utd expect midfielder Kevin Molino to be out for the season while Sam Cronin and Cristian Ramirez are injured and Jerome Thiesson is questionable.

The Portland Timbers remain winless in 2018 after their five-game road trip to start the season as they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker in Orlando last Sunday. The Timbers took the lead on a Diego Valeri penalty kick in the 20th minute after Portland's Sebastian Blanco was shown a second yellow card for diving in the box. However, the call was reversed after video review and a penalty was awarded. Bill Tuiloma doubled the lead in the 59th minute and then things soon fell apart. They conceded goals in the 80th, 82nd and 87th minutes to collapse with the second goal coming on a penalty kick. Portland will finally play their home opener this weekend at the newly-renovated Providence Park. The Timber have two draws and three defeats on the season with just two wins, three draws and five losses in their past ten MLS matches and are winless in seven. The Timbers were the seventh best home team in 2017 at 11 wins, four draws and two defeats for 37 points.
Minnesota Utd didn't play last weekend as they took some time off with a bye. They last played on March 31st when they were beaten at home 1-0 by Atlanta Utd. It was their second straight defeat after two consecutive victories and the team now has two wins and three losses on the season. The second-year MLS franchise now has four wins, six defeats and a draw in their past 11 MLS games. Minnesota was mediocre away from home last year with the 16th ranked record of three wins, two  draws and 12 defeats for just 11 points. They have a win and two losses away from home this season.
Portland finally gets a home game and the renovated stadium, the occasions and home crowd will spur them to victory.
These teams have played a combined 70 per cent of odd-score games this year and I expect that trend to carry on.
The Portland Timbers and Minnesota Utd met twice in 2017 with Portland drilling them 5-1 at home and Minnesota edging the Timbers 3-2 at home. These are the only two MLS meetings so far.
